I want to point out that this is just one way you can consider using chords when you improvise. There are players like Big Walter Horton, who really accentuated the chords, so you can flip the script and experiment with ...

I am by no means a harp player, but a recording studio guy. My question is this: What if one were to raise the midrange a bit more for getting more bass (or "false" bass)? I would like to hear anybody's opinion on this. Thanks in advance for any replies!
Awesome video, thank you Ronnie. I’ve been working more 1st position into my playing so this was great. Sidenote about OB/OD, not only is the 6ob nice to use, the 7od can be used to make some really saucy phrasing peaks once I learned how to bend it. I do agree completely that the infatuation with ob/od’s is only applicable if it enhances your sound. It’s just a cool parlor trick if it’s not being used musically.
I keep coming back to this video whenever I’m thinking of getting a rocket and you’ve sold me on them for a second time. Just ordered a G. Great intro jam and review
Crossovers for me + Rocket lows. I'm not gonna spend too much time on this live stream Ronnie says..... proceeds to stream for 30 minutes😅 By the way whoever said you ramble on obviously doesn't appreciate how much you have to say about the harp. They can go listen to UA-cam shorts😊 Hugs and high fives✌️
Great content you two. Nick I throughly enjoy your rack playing, the Dave Moore album forever adjusted my rack playing. Cheers👏
1st
This guy folks, is one of the two best (if not the best) harp educator on U -Tube.. Follow him.....I know for sure !!
maaaaaaannn I used to see him with the T-birds so often in the 80s.. and every now and then he'd guest sing with Roomfull....omg!!
Wow! Will watch out 😊
At this point you just showing off
I like special 20 and bluesharp and some marine and Leo Oskar and seydel blues sessionsteel
The mic is scratching Ronnie
ya i'm hearing that too. UGH! back to the drawing board. thanks
Better than the crossover?
Interesting contrast
I looked everywhere you didn't share the tabs boo wasted my time
It's pinned to the top of the comments. Sometimes you gotta open your eyes a bit wider. I'm guilty of that too.
Also, put in the time to ear train the intro and figure as much as you can out on your own. That's the proper way to learn this instrument.
You're wearin' my t-shirt!
So there is my gift to you a song of my hurt
Your great Ronnie basically is the answer sorry I can't afford the join can't pay my bills sorry sorry I hate the price and lost my money to a liar who was convincing and now I have let you down but I go on and don't look back even with a broken back my life goes on
A pleasure as always! Thx Ronnie!
Blue scales solfa notes please 🙏 Minor pentatonic scales solfa notes too
I am learning this song Ronnie.
1st position blues scale low end: 1 2 (closest note choice without using 1 overblow) -2” -2’ -2 -3’ 4 1st position blues scale high end: 7 8’ -9 9’ 9 10” 10
Great tips. Everything I try to play in 1st sounds like Hoochie Coochie Man. This really unlocked some new ideas for me. Thanks, Ronnie!
Hey Ronnie nice bro
1:57 don’t take that hard. F »&k them. You are terrific.
Gorgeous . So it means no bending at all … isn’t ?
You can use bends in 1st position especially on holes 1-4 and 8-10
@@Harmonica123 oh… I thought 1st position meant no bent …
Some of these online harmonica people are good teachers who are organised and deliver well structured harmonica lessons that are easy to follow. Ronnie isn't one of them! Instead he pretty much chats (and often rambles) to the camera, sometimes making it hard to follow and learn. Consequently I didn't take to his lessons at first. However as I progressed and improved on the harmonica I came to appreciate his teaching more and more. He gives some great advice and covers things I've found nowhere else. Hell, it's Ronnie Shellist FGS!!! You have to work to filter out the good stuff from Ronnie's stream-of-consciousness delivery (bless 'im) but there are gems to be found.
Guilty as charged as far as some of my videos (not all) here on UA-cam. I've been known to ramble but I also have some that get right to the point. Here's a question for you. Have you ever taken on of my "paid" classes? No rambling, super structured and organized, notes included and I record every class. I'm guessing that there are plenty of folks who follow me here that can vouch for me.
Soulful with heart and mournful crying
Sold me on the Rocket Low, I'm getting one
You said so much and said nothing at all. Nice job Mr. Shellist👍
I’m green as grass and have only been playing for 3 months but I have a couple special 20s (C and a D country tuned), a golden melody in F, 2 manjis (1 in C and 1 in A). Love the tone of manjis but they aren’t as responsive as my hohners. That MBD sounds so sweet. I’m gonna get a couple of those soon and maybe some rockets and crossovers. Considering getting one of those seydel 1847 Wilde rock tuning or a powerbender to play with. Yeah I’ll never get another golden melody either. I just don’t like the way they are designed. And also the tuning I don’t like.
I play Blues Harp and Rocket. I played SP20 three times so far and never again. It just breaks and goes out of tune too quick. Recently i bought Cascha "Ocean Rock", plays far better than every SP20 for the same price.
On that last “Sonny boy” section were you using the minor pentatonic scale?
Duude! its sound so good
Hi Ronnie😊 I‘ve just listened to „three buckets of jive“ That‘s great. If sometime there will be a class featuring You explaining and playing these brass solos with our harmonica I‘ll join it. That‘s for sure😀 This class on saturday with Nick is certainly also a very good one🙏🏻
Thank you, Heiko!
